Tuesday True, Good, and Beautiful #4

In the words of Squidward, “another day, another nickel!” but in this case, “another Tuesday, another blog post!”

This is not how I feel about writing this blog post, I promise!
This is not how I feel about writing this blog post, I promise!

I have to write some reaction papers for my English class by tomorrow [oops] so I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. I hope.

Here’s how God has been working in my life this week!

True: The other day, I was praying about some things I struggle with often. I was in the new Newman Center church, looking at the beautiful stained glass window which depicts 14 saints surrounding Jesus, and I asked God to please help me find a saint who has struggled with or at least understands what I’m going through. Without getting into too much detail, the very next day I came across this quote from Saint Francis de Sales:

Have patience with all things, but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You’re perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist. And no amount of triumphs and tribulations can ever change that. Unconditional self-acceptance is the core of a peaceful mind.

That beard, though.

After reading that quote, I immediately purchased An Introduction to the Devout Life on amazon and it should be here tomorrow. So you’ll probably be hearing more of his words in the future.

Good: Today, I got to give a tour of our brand new church to some 2nd graders from a local Catholic school. OH MY GOODNESS. They were precious. I currently have a pretty awful cold, and I didn’t bother to make myself look presentable at all before going to meet this group. The children, however, paid no attention to this. Immediately they thought I was so cool and pretty and nice and wanted to pretend to paint my fingernails and act like they were stealing my car keys and make me walk next to them and impress me with their knowledge of the saints [which was super impressive, I might add].

Getting to watch their faces as they walked into our new church for the first time was SO. GOOD. They lit up with joy, gasping and “WOW”ing, pointing at everything, unable to contain their excitement.

That’s how I feel when I walk into that sanctuary too.

Their love for Jesus and for me made me forget that I was sick and super chambly looking. Praise God.

Beautiful: Every Tuesday and Thursday on my way to my Management class, I get to walk past this tree. On Thursday I snapped this picture because LOOK HOW PRETTY and I’m so glad I did, because today, the blossoms had already started fading quite a bit. It’s so springy and lovely and flowery everywhere, and while my allergies are absolutely hating it,the rest of me is enjoying it quite a bit.

AHHH-CHOOOO!
AHHH-CHOOOO!

So that’s my week. I can’t believe it’s only 19 days until I graduate. WHAT. More on that later, though.

I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week!

  1. Carol – you made me cry with joy as I read this. I was hurting so much yesterday I forgot it was Tuesday. Woke up this morning and read this and I feel so peaceful. Ready to face my day! Your quote from St Francis de Sales is perfect and makes me remeber that even my imperfections are beauiful. I was so discouraged last night with absolutely no patience in mind. Thanks for always saying the perfect things. Oh, and those kiddos knew cool and beautiful when they saw it….that of course is you! Keep up the good work!
